Miracle in the Marshes of Iraq

An award-winning one-hour wildlife special for BBC Natural World and PBS, (it screened as Braving Iraq in the States). The film is directed and narrated by David Johnson and filmed by Steve Foote. The score features performances by Joanna Swan (vocals), Nick Pullin (guitars) and Tim Garside (Middle Eastern percussion).

The documentary tells the remarkable story of water engineer Dr Azzam Alwash and the Iraqi people's attempts to restore the Mesapotamian Marshes after Saddam Hussein drained them to less than a tenth of what they were in the 1980s.
