A 50-minute wildlife documentary for BBC Natural World and Animal Planet. Series produced by Tim Martin, directed by Ian Gray, with music by William Goodchild. The score features performances by Dan Brown (guitars).
In 1970, a photograph of a Japanese snow monkey bathing in a hot spring appeared on the cover of Life Magazine. Since this time, these hot-tubbing primates have enjoyed protection, food and the fascinated attention of tourists that travel from across the globe to see them. Whilst their unique lifestyle has brought this particular group fame, the rest of Japan's snow monkeys lead very different and austere lives, enduring considerable hardship in their fight for survival within a stunningly beautiful but unforgiving landscape.
